The Disney+ series WandaVision was in all respects a success. The series was a relief from the usual action-packed scenes we have come to expect from the MCU and took fans on a journey of emotions. What started as light-hearted sitcoms built into a dramatic, emotion-filled finale.

Throughout the series, fans were on the lookout for Easter eggs and callbacks while coming up with a multitude of theories on what the series was going to throw at us. One of the biggest theories was that the big bad villain of the series was going to be Marvel’s version of the Devil, Mephisto.

This theory ultimately didn’t turn out not to be true, but we have some information that may prove Marvel were thinking of using this character and at the last minute dropped the idea.

In an interview on Kevin Smith’s Podcast, WandaVision director Matt Shakman revealed a scene that was cut from the finale. The scene would have revealed the true identity of Agatha Harkness‘ rabbit, Senor Scratchy.

We did have something more planned for Señor Scratchy that we ultimately couldn’t do because the finale had so many different chess pieces. But we did have a whole sequence where Darcy, Monica, and Ralph meet up with the kids in Agatha’s house, and they think they should steal the Darkhold from the basement because the kids had seen it when they were down there being held hostage by Agatha.

The scene was cut from the finale, but Shakman went on to say that the rabbit would have gone through an American Werewolf in London style transformation.

And they go down there to get the book and the rabbit hops up in front of the book. then they’re like ‘Oh it’s Señor Scratchy he’s the best’ and they reach over to pet him. then this whole American werewolf in London transformation happens and the rabbit turns into this big demon. And then this whole Goonies set-piece ensues where they try to escape from the rabbit.

Shakman also revealed that the scene had been shot but it never made it through the CGI process and was ultimately cut from the last episode.

We shot it, but we didn’t finish all the VFX stuff for it. It was a great sequence, it was super fun, everyone was great in it. But we ended up moving it aside because it was a huge detour in the middle of everything else we had going on.

While fans never got to see the theory that the real villain was in fact Mephisto come true, the above comments confirm that there may still be a possibility we will see him in the future.

What were your thoughts on the finale? Did you think the main villain was going to turn out to be Mephisto or did you have another theory in mind? Let us know in the comments who your favourite twists and turns of the series.
