Last December, Kevin Feige officially announced that Christian Bale will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder as the film’s villain, Gorr the God Butcher. Since filming began on the film back in January, numerous behind-the-scenes photos have given us a glimpse of some of the actors that will appear in the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok.
We’ve also seen some set photos that appear to be Gorr the God Butcher’s baron homeworld, hinting that the character’s origin story may be told in the film. Since arriving in Australia last October, we haven’t seen any images of Christian Bale. That was until today, when the Daily Mail released images that show Bale with his family at Palm Beach, which is close to where Thor: Love and Thunder is being filmed in Sydney. The images reveal that Bale has a completely shaven head, which is presumably for his role as Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming MCU film.
You can view the images below:
Whilst it is a possibility that Christian Bale shaved his head to stay cool in the Australian heat, it more likely that the new look is for Thor: Love and Thunder. The character is bald with long tendrils. The images suggest that Bale’s role won’t be motion-captured like some other MCU villains such as Josh Brolin’s portrayal of Thanos.
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently scheduled to release on February 11th, 2022.
