The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hasn’t arrived on Disney+ yet, but people are already thinking about a second season for the series. Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, recently revealed that some series will have a second season, however, Falcon actor Anthony Mackie has stated that he isn’t sure if TFatWS will continue after its 6th episode.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now under one week away from its debut. The series will see fan favourites Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes come to terms with the loss of Steve Rodgers following the events of Avengers: Endgame. In a recent interview with The Direct, series director Kari Skogland revealed that “there is nothing I didn’t get to do” with the series. However, she did state that there are always more stories available to tell for the duo when she was asked about the possibility of season 2.

I CAN’T EVEN ANSWER THAT BECAUSE I WOULD SAY THERE’S NOTHING I DIDN’T GET TO DO IN THIS ONE, AND YET THERE’S SO MUCH MORE TO DO. SO, LET’S HOPE THAT THERE IS A SEASON TWO. I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER THERE WILL BE OR NOT, BUT I DO KNOW THERE’S ALWAYS MORE STORIES TO EXPLORE AND MORE CHARACTERS TO HAVE GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE WITH.

None of the MCU series that have been announced for Disney+ has a second season confirmed. The closest we have to confirmation are reports that the second season of Loki is already being planned.

One advantage the MCU has is the fact that even if Marvel Studios decide against renewing a show for the second season, characters can still appear in other projects. This is the case with Wanda Maximoff. WandaVision‘s ending makes it almost certain the series won’t return for season two, but we already know that Wanda’s story will continue in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Whatever Marvel decide to do with Sam, Bucky and any other supporting characters from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it will be interesting to see where they appear again in the future of the MCU.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will release on Friday, March 19th.
