While we recently covered the Easter Eggs we found in WandaVision Episode 7, eagle-eyed viewers have spotted one that we missed. Now, this is a very subtle one and is in reference to the Marvel legend, Stan Lee.
In the latest episode of the Disney+ series, titled “Breaking the Fourth Wall”, the opening scene uses a variety of logos with Wanda’s name upon them. One of these images is a car license plate with Wanda’s name and the seemingly insignificant number 122822.
While this looks at first sight like a random number, fans of Stan Lee have pointed out that this is in fact a date. 12th December 1922, Stan Lee’s birth date.
Even though this is a subtle reference that many did miss, those who noticed it were more than a little touched. Stan Lee is famous for creating some of the world most popular superheroes and has featured in every movie in the MCU to date. These have been small cameo roles. Most have been a moment of comedic relief, but each and every one of them brings a smile to the face of fans when Stan appears on the screen.
As Lee is no longer with us, nods like this are an excellent way to pay tribute to the legend. Hopefully, each project moving forward will have some small way to acknowledge the man himself. He may not be available to appear, but the studio can still pay tribute.
