Spider-Man: No Way Home: New Evidence Points at Tobey Maguire Role

Spider-Man: No Way Home was described as “the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made” by Tom Holland earlier this year. Based on the number of actors returning for the film, that may well be true. We’ve already had confirmation that Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina will reprise their earlier Spider-Man villain roles as Electro and Doctor Octopus, respectively. Most recently, Hannibal Buress posted some images of him returning as Coach Wilson.

There have also been plenty of rumours linked to Spider-Man 3. Willem Dafoe and Charlie Cox have both reportedly filmed scenes for the Spider-Man threequel. The biggest rumours of all, however, has been that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as different versions of the web-slinger. Current Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland, has denied those rumours, but they aren’t going away.

New evidence revealed by The Direct may have given fans some hope of Tobey Maguire’s return. In a recent interview with the Elstanodelplanet YouTube channel, actor Roger Pera confirmed that he will be involved with Spider-Man: No Way Home. That’s especially interesting because Pera was the Spanish voice dub actor for Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Peter Parker in the three Raimiverse Spider-Man movies. He had also provided dub work for Maguire’s roles in The Great Gatsby and Pawn Sacrifice.

The original video has since been deleted, edited and uploaded again. Thankfully, Twitter user @cebapuerta was on hand to capture the original video and provide a translation.

It is important to note that Pera also dubbed Jake Gyllenhaal’s lines as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. This could mean Gyllenhaal Mysertio will appear in Spider-Man 3, which would back up the theory that Mysterio didn’t actually die in the last film.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to release on December 17th, so we don’t have too long to wait to find out which of these rumours are true.
