In April, the whole slate of phase four MCU films was pushed back due to the Coronavirus pandemic. One of those delays saw Spider-Man 3 move from July 2021 to November 5th, 2021. Today Sony has announced a second delay to the Spider-Man 3 release date. The sequel starring Tom Holland will now release one month later on December 17th, 2021.
Tom Holland recently stated that filming for the untitled Spider-Man 3 is set to conclude in February. From the outside, it would appear that the latest delay is based around financial reasons rather than a need for additional production time.
Shortly before the new Spider-Man 3 release date was announced, Disney revealed that Avatar 2 has been delayed indefinitely. The change will almost certainly guarantee that the new Spider-Man film will dominate the holiday season’s box office.
Spider-Man 3 will now release on December, 17th 2021. Hopefully, this will be the last of the delays to the upcoming MCU films.
