Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been hotly anticipated ever since it was originally announced. Unfortunately, the sequel to the 2018 Tom Hardy movie has been pushed back multiple times to the Coronavirus pandemic. The latest delay came in March when it was revealed that the film would now release in September.

With the release of Venom: Let There be Carnage now seemingly locked in, Sony has today released a the film’s debut trailer. The trailer gives fans a glimpse of the returning Tom Hardy alongside the film’s villain, Woody Harrelson. You can watch it in full below:

Following the trailer’s release, Sony shared a second video with a breakdown of the footage with Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis. One key thing that Serkis brought up was the fact that while Eddie Brock and Spider-Man exist in the same universe, Tom Hardy’s character is unaware of the web-slinger.

Obviously, there are links between Venom and Spider-Man in the Marvel Universe and the Spider-Man story, but in this, we’re treating this very much as it’s his own world, the Venom story is his own world,” Serkis says. “There are nods and little moments just like this, the newspaper Daily Bugle, of course, but on the whole, he’s unaware, they’re unaware, at this point of other characters like Spider-Man.
