Sony Names Its Marvel Universe

Back in 2016, It was announced by Sony that they would launch their own Sony Marvel universe based on Spider-Man and his supporting Villains and characters.

Although fans have often referred to this as the Spider-Verse, the official title was believed to “Spider-Man Universe of Characters.” This led to IGN seeking clarification from Sony to clear up the name.

So the Spider-Man Universe of Characters covers the Tobey Maquire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland Movies. But with the expanding universe that launched in 2018 with Venom, the official name is “Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters”. Or SPUMC for short…

Yeah, a rather silly name if you ask me.

Either way Sony is expanding with both Morbius and Venom 2 that was due to release this year but have been postponed until 2021 due to the global Coronavirus pandemic.

It is also believed that Sony is looking at using more character from the Spider-Man Universe and have plans to use Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Woman, Nightwatch, The Sinister Six, and Man-Wolf.
