Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently scheduled to be Marvel Studios’ second theatrical release of 2021 when it hits the big screen in July. During yesterday’s Super Bowl LV broadcast, many MCU fans were hoping to see a first glimpse of the film via a trailer, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
A rumour on Saturday revealed that Disney would only show two trailers during the game. That report turned out to be true with Disney showing a new trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and a second trailer for the Disney Plus Bundle.
Whilst fans were ultimately disappointed to not see any of Marvel’s mysterious martial arts film, Samu Liu has teased that the wait will be worth it. The star took to Twitter during the game and promised fans that the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings trailer will be “so good” when it arrives, “just not today.”
With a 30-second TV spot during Super Bowl LV costing in the region of $5.5 million, it’s hardly surprising that Disney opted to show trailers for its streaming platform. With the Coronavirus pandemic still causing delays, spending marketing dollars on a film that may well be pushed to 2022 doesn’t make sense.
Plot details for Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings are being kept a closely guarded secret. Simu Liu will play the film’s titular hero, Shang-Chi, and Tony Leung will appear as the Mandarin. Other confirmed stars include Awkwafina, Ronny Chieng, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Michelle Yeoh.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently scheduled to release on July 9th, 2021.
I hope it’s worth the wait as this is one of the marvel films I’m looking forward to the most.
Yeah. I’ve feel like I’ve been waiting for Shang-Chi and Eternals trailers forever.
