The long wait for the next MCU film release seems to be coming to an end. Following a 12-month delay to the release of Black Widow, Marvel Studios recently announced that the film will now release this July in theaters and on Disney+ simultaneously via Premier Access.
The second film to release this year will be the hotly anticipated Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Like Black Widow, Shang-Chi has also suffered multiple delays due to COVID-19, the latest of which saw the film pushed from July to September 3rd.
Despite the film wrapping production last year, we’re yet to see a trailer for Shang-Chi, and plot details are being kept a closely guarded secret. Actor Simu Liu has, however, promised fans that the trailer will be worth the wait.
Although Marvel Studios are keeping details of the film under wraps, a new report today from Deadline has revealed that actor Dallas Liu, who many will recognise from his role in Hulu’s Pen15, will appear in the film. Details about his role in the film haven’t been disclosed, and neither his representatives nor Marvel provided any comment on the rumour.
Dallas Liu is best known for his role as Shuji Ishii-Peters in Pen15 and has also appeared in the Snapchat series, Players. His film work includes a role alongside Nichole Bloom in the drama short Ella.
While it’s currently unknown how big Dallas Liu’s role will be in Shang-Chi, it will certainly be his biggest casting to date. He will join a cast that includes Simu Liu, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, and Ronnie Chieng.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently set to release on September 3rd. It’s currently unknown if the film will release solely in theaters or if a Disney+ release is also on the table.
