Over the past couple of months, we’ve seen repeated reports that Samuel L. Jackson is set to star in an MCU series on Disney+. Those rumours have now been confirmed after Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced that Secret Invasion is coming to the streaming platform.
The series will see Jackson reprise his role as Nick Fury alongside Ben Mendelsohn who played Talo in 2019’s Captain Marvel. The pair were both last seen in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home when it was revealed that Fury was actually on a space station with Talos doubling as him on Earth.
No details were given about the series’ plot, but we can guess at the what might happen based on 2008 comic series of the same name. In the comic storyline, the shapeshifting Skrulls attempt to conquer Earth by secretly replacing numerous citizens and superheroes over several years. The Skrull sleeper agents lie in wait, before launching a multi-pronged attack both on land and in space.
Secret Invasion doesn’t have a release date yet, however, the latest reports suggest production is set to begin next year.
