Sebastian Stan Discusses a Potential Second Season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Before the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had premiered on Disney+, people were already discussing a potential second season. Director Kari Skogland has stated she would be open to making a season two, whilst Anthony Mackie who plays Sam Wilson in the series has said he’s not sure what will happen to his character in the future.

Kevin Feige has already confirmed that some of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series will get a second season, however, the upcoming Loki is the only series so far that seems to have any evidence of a second season currently in the works.

Feige has also previously stated that Sam and Bucky “are essential to the MCU”, so we can rest assured that even if a second season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier isn’t made, we will likely see the pair again in future MCU films. In a recent interview with Collider, Sebastian Stan revealed his thoughts about a potential season two.

When asked if Stan has heard anything about a possible second series of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the actor said “No, we have not”.

No, we have not, and I’ll tell you that honestly, we have not. As per usual, I don’t quite know what the next step is. We never really do. Maybe some people do, maybe [Robert] Downey [Jr.] used to know, I don’t know.

The good news is that Stan went on to reveal his conversations with Kevin Feige and how he would “do anything” if he were asked to return as the character:

I got on the phone with him just to catch up, and I was saying to him, ‘Dude, you could fucking tell me to go swim under [water], I’ll do anything.’ It doesn’t matter. Or if this is it, my heart is just as big.

From Stan’s interview and Mackie’s comments previously, it doesn’t sound like a second season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier isn’t currently being planned. It is likely, however, that even if they did know more, they wouldn’t be able to talk about it publicly due to Marvel’s strict NDAs. After all, She-Hulk actress Tatiana Maslany previously denied being cast in the role of Jennifer Walters only to be officially announced by Feige a few months later.

Whatever happens with the future of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, fans still have two more episodes to look forward to. Episode 5 will be available to stream on Friday, and a recent leak revealed it will be the longest episode so far.
