The COVID-19 pandemic has caused more than a few large-scale events and gatherings to be altered, postponed, or canceled altogether. It even affected production schedules as well. Sadly, San Diego Comic-Con 2020 is on that list of canceled events. However, instead of being done away with completely, San Diego Comic-Con will become a fully digital event this summer.
It was announced just last month that San Diego Comic-Con would be canceled for the first time in its 50-year history. Emails were sent out offering refunds to ticket holders, and they were even given the option to transfer their ticket to next year’s event. A fully-realized San Diego Comic-Con will return from July 22 to July 25, 2021.
As for this year, the digital San Diego Comic-Con can be enjoyed by all from the comfort of your own homes, badge or no badge. The Comic-Con YouTube channel even put out a video teasing their new “[email protected]” event and branding. You can check it out below:
No additional details have been given about the digital Comic-Con yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as new information becomes available. With that said, it’s safe to say that you can probably look forward to a few new superhero-related teasers and trailers when the online event rolls around.
