Samuel L. Jackson will be reviving his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, only this time on Disney+.
Variety is reporting that Samuel L. Jackson will be returning to his role as director of S.H.I.E.L.D. This time for his very own series on the Disney+ streaming service. The spin-off will reportedly be written by Kyle Bradstreet, of the critically acclaimed Mr Robot and Berlin Station.
There are no other casting details, nor information on where the series will fit into the current MCU timeline. Disney has also not officially confirmed the project, so this is currently all conjecture.
After Jackson’s last outing as Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it was revealed in the end credits that Fury was off-world while a Skrull imposter had been impersonating him. The actor hinted soon after that this was not the last we had seen of him.
I doubt the timing of this is a coincidence. The upcoming series WandaVision will introduce a new off-world version of S.H.I.E.L.D. called S.W.O.R.D (Sentient World Observation and Response Department). The organisation is an intelligence group created to contain extra-terrestrial threats on earth.
When and as we hear more we will keep you posted.
