Thor: Love and Thunder has been filming in Sydney, Australia since early this year. The fourth Thor movie will see Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as the titular hero, alongside a stellar cast of MCU veterans. Natalie Portman is returning as Jane Foster and will take on the mantle of the Mighty Thor. Jaimie Alexander will appear as Lady Sif, Tessa Thompson will return as Valkyrie, and we’ll also see many members of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the film.
Late last month, Deadline revealed that award-winning actor Russell Crowe had also joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder. The star’s role was reportedly being kept a closely guarded secret. In a recent interview with Australia’s Joy 94.9, Crowe discussed his involvement with the film and let slip that he will be playing the role of Zeus in Thor: Love and Thunder.
You can listen to a snippet of the interview in which Crowe revealed his role below:
Given the fact that Christian Bale is set to appear as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor 4, Russell Crowe will almost certainly have to face off against the film’s main villain. In the comics, Gorr earned his full title by travelling through the cosmos killing any gods that he came across. It is rumoured that Crowe will only play a small role in the film, so it could be that he will appear as part of Gorr’s origin story via a flashback.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to release in theaters on May 6th, 2022.
