James Gunn has added Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone to the cast of his DC reboot of Suicide Squad, making it the second superhero movie the two have worked on together. Rumours now suggest that Stallone’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 character, Stakar Phone, will get his own spin off series on Disney+.
This rumour comes from WeGotThisCovered who state Daniel Richtman as a source. Between the two they say that Marvel Studios are lining Stallone up to reprise his role as the Ravager along with Ving Rhames, Michelle Yeah, Michael Rosenbaum and Miley Cyrus.
The rumour seems to be speculation based on comments made by Michael Rosenbaum in a previous interview:
[Martinex] was one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy,” Rosenbaum said. “When James told me about it, he says, ‘Hey, you know this is something that could be… It’s not a huge part in the first one, but you’re in the end credits and there’s a good chance you’re gonna come back.’ So I was like, ‘Of course, yeah, let’s do it.
I think his plan is for us to come back so I just don’t know how,” he explained. “I think that was the plan all along…you’re going to see these guys in the end credits. Why bring Stallone on alone just to be in such a small part? You kind of want to see what he does, I mean I don’t know how you wouldn’t.
While we can’t corroborate this or even find any other evidence to prove this we have to admit that this would make an amazing series. It already has a star studded cast lined up and some amazing characters.
