Over the past couple of weeks, Deadpool co-creator, Rob Liefeld, has been increasingly vocal that Disney doesn’t have any plans for a Deadpool 3 movie. He even went on record recently stating that he had seen Marvel’s plans for the next five years and that there was no Deadpool movie on there.
This comes despite the fact that actor Ryan Reynolds has previously stated that he has been discussing the future of the Merc with a Mouth at Marvel, and Walt Disney Executive Chairman, Robert Iger, confirming that the franchise would remain R rated with Marvel.
Liefeld’s claims seemed to take a further knock when late last week Robert Iger updated his Twitter header. It seemed almost too much of a coincidence that the new image featured Deadpool quite prominently.
The most logical suggestion to come from the recent updates is that Marvel does have plans for a Deadpool movie and that Rob Liefeld isn’t involved. Things got a little stranger when Liefeld posted the image below on his Instagram story.
Until Marvel does announce a Deadpool 3 film, there’s little doubt that we’ll continue to see various rumours about the project, and it seems unlikely that Liefeld has finished sharing his views. Few characters generate the excitement that Deadpool does.
As soon as some Deadpool news is officially revealed, we’ll be sure to let you konw.
