Richard E. Grant, who you may recognise from Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, has confirmed he will be making an appearance in an upcoming MCU series. Grant posted on Twitter today, sharing his excitement to work with Tom Hiddleston on the upcoming show, Loki.
Marvel has not announced an official casting and Grant has not confirmed who he will be playing in the show. The recent rumours were that Grant would be playing a mystery role and would be a “costumed character”. While reports suggest that we will see a young Loki, along with a female Loki, the above side by side image may hint at Grant playing an older version of Loki… I mean there does seem to a resemblance doesn’t there?
Unfortunately, Loki is not due to release until 2021 so confirmation may be a while off yet.
After the demise of Loki in Avengers: Infinity War, it looked as though we would not get to see the god of mischief again. The time heist in Avengers: Endgame where Loki managed to escape with the Tesseract, set up a potential return that was then confirmed in 2019 with the announcement of the Disney+ series.
The Series will take place in the alternate timeline created after Loki escaped with the tesseract in 2012. This will mean that a lot of the events that made Loki into more of an Anti-Hero, rather than a villain will not have happened, allowing Loki to revert back to the evil villain he started out as.
The show will also introduce the TVA, a sort of Time Police organisation. The only real images we have so far show Loki as what appears to be a prisoner of the TVA.
With what we know so far of the show I’m sure this will shape up to be an interesting one, but the upcoming trailer should hopefully reveal more. Loki is due to release in 2021 after WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
