Continuing on with our Re-Casting The Fantastic Four series we will follow on from Invisible Woman and take a look at some potential actors who could take on the role of Johnathan Storm, AKA The Human Torch.
While we are still unsure of when and how they will introduce the Fantastic Four to the MCU, we will keep our minds open to the possibility of the team being young or old. There are a few rules that we will follow with these selections:
- No actors that have already played a significant role in the MCU.
- We cant pick an actor who has already played the role in one of its previous incarnations.
So without further ado, lets get into it and continue with who could play Johnny Storm.
Johnny Storm – The Human Torch
Johnny Storm, AKA The Human Torch is the younger brother of Susan Storm. He is the brashest character in the team and always seeks to be the center of attention with flashy moves in combat and his battle cry “Flame on”.
Johnny’s abilities are all based around Fire. His primary ability allows him to assume a form that envelops his body in flames causing him no harm. This form also allows him the ability of flight and also to project streams or balls of flame. He is also resistant to extreme heat along with having the ability of Pyrokinesis and Heat energy absorption.
When looking for someone to play this role we were looking for someone who is able to achieve the hotheaded impulsive nature of Johnny while also being brave and loyal to his sister.
Dacre Montgomery will be most recognizable from the Netflix show Stranger Things. He portrays a very cocky but suave character who comes across as a very troubled young man. He also featured in the remake of the Power Rangers which shown his ability to play well as part of a team. If Dacre was to amalgamate both these roles I think he would have the perfect personality for The Human Torch.
Ansel Elgort has had a rapid rise to fame with films like The Fault in Your Stars, Divergent, and Baby Driver. While the first two are teen movies and he is superb in both he was able to show how he can also cope with the action side of a role. He will be able to pull off the cocky side of the character but also show the softer side.
Zac Efron is one of the characters that has been mentioned before in this role but we can understand why. I mean he has the looks, doesn’t he? OK, he was in High School Musical but he has shown his acting ability in other roles like Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, where he portrayed the serial killer Ted Bundy. He was also in Neighbors where he shows the cocky and funny side this role would require.
Do you agree with our list? Is there someone you would prefer to see in the role? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned until next time when we will take a look at The Thing.
