With his role in the Star Wars franchise at an end, it appears that Marvel Studios are tapping up Oscar Isaac to take on the lead role for the upcoming Disney+ series, Moon Knight.
The report comes to us from Deadline who say that Isaac is in talks to play the lead role of Moon Knight, AKA Marc Spector. This follows the recent casting news of Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk, which she has since denied, along with Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro for the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie. Deadline also reported that Marvel is lining up Jeremy Slater, who wrote the Netflix adaptation of The Umbrella Academy.
Oscar Isaac has had a varied acting career to date but is most famous for his role as the X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. He also starred in Ex-Machina (2014), A Most Violent Year and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) amongst others. Isaac will also take on the role of Duke Leto Atreides in Dune which is due out in 2021.
Moon Knight is an ex-mercenary who uses various alter-egos and later on, he becomes a conduit for the Egyptian Moon God Khonshu. He is an entrepreneur millionaire who uses various weapons and fighting styles along with the use of his superpowers.
There is currently no release date for the series but it was originally planned to start filming next month in Atlanta but due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, this has been pushed back. probably until the end of next year.
