Since fans were introduced to the Nova Corps in Guardians of the Galaxy, we have been eagerly awaiting a movie or series based on Nova. Well, it now seems we have hope that a Nova project may be on the horizon.
During an interview with Comic Books Phase Zero podcast, Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, was asked about a possible Nova project. When asked if Nova was likey to be introduced he simply answered “yes”. He gave the same answer when asked if it would be Richard Rider who would take on the mantle.
He did have a little more to say though when giving an indication of how far off the project may be.
“Timing is relative, right?,” continued Feige. “I think I’d been talking about Doctor Strange eight years before that movie came out. So, ‘immediate potential’ is relative. But clearly, we are not shying away from the cosmic end of storytelling right in the sweet spot of the Nova Corps and Nova himself.”
The main part of Richard Riders backstory in the comics was the destruction of Xandar. This has already been mentioned in Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos ravaged Xandar to claim the Power Stone. This was where Rider was recruited into the Nova Corps and gained his powers.
So we are likely to see Nova hit the big (or small) screen at some point in the hopefully not too distant future. This is something we at MCU Initiative are looking forward to as Nova made it into our list of characters who deserve their own show.
As we hear more on this we will as always let you know.
