A Nova solo project is currently in development from Kevin Feige and the team at Marvel Studios.
Marvel is gearing up for the biggest slate of productions in the history of the franchise and the delays caused by the current Coronavirus situation are hopefully at an end. This seems to be proven with the recent news that the release date of Black Widow has been brought forward.
The release of Black Widow kicks off the start of Phase 4 of the MCU. And there are at least eight confirmed movies along with eight new series for release on Disney+. While Disney and Marvel have plenty to keep them busy they always seem to have their eye on the future.
According to a recent listing Marvel are in the early stages of planning an eagerly anticipated project, Nova.
Nova is Coming to the MCU
There is not much information available on this so we don’t know if this will be a solo movie or a series. Our best bet would be a movie in phase 5 or later. There is no concrete evidence on anything regarding the project except that Kevin Feige is listed as the sole producer.
Nova is a character that fans have wanted to see since the franchise went cosmic with Guardians of the Galaxy 6 years ago. The Nova Corps was a huge part of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie and it was thought that Richard Rider (AKA Nova) would be introduced in the series at some point. Considering Xandar (the home of the Nova Corps) was destroyed during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, it will be interesting to see how he is introduced.
His Skillset will no doubt come in handy in the future with his powers including flight, superhuman strength, speed, and durability. Nova has also been known in the comics to have possession of the Xandarian Worldmine. This allows him almost unlimited control of the Nova Force and grants him energy projection and absorption.
There are several places Nova could be introduced in the upcoming releases but however he makes his MCU debut, this is exciting news nonetheless. With nothing but a title at present, we will keep you updated as we learn more.
