On December 10th, Marvel fans were rewarded with a plethora of MCU news. Among this news, we received our first look at one of the upcoming new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Ms. Marvel.
The series was originally announced in August of 2019 at D23 by Kevin Feige. Until the Disney Investors Day Meeting last week, news about the upcoming Disney+ series had been scarce. Earlier this year, it was reported that newcomer Iman Vellani was cast as the MCU’s Ms. Marvel. We also saw reports that Bad Boys for Life directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah had signed up to direct an unspecified number of episodes.
Kevin Feige confirmed both of those reports, as well a revealing that Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will also direct episodes, with El Arbi and Fallah set to executive produce the series.
Not only did we receive an update on the series, but we had our first official look at Iman as Kamala in a new sizzle reel trailer. The sizzle reel includes an interview with the head writer/executive producer Bisha Ali where she discusses how new the character is to Marvel comics as well as the fact that the Kamala is extremely popular among fans of the comics. The trailer also shows footage from Iman’s audition process as well as her reaction to being cast. You can watch the sizzle trailer below:
Ms. Marvel is set to debut on Disney+ in late 2021.
