Marvel Studios has kicked off phase 4 of the MCU with a bang with the release of WandaVision on Disney+, and they show no signs of slowing down. There are four theatrical movies and six Disney+ shows set to release this year alone, and even more set to release in 2022 and beyond.
A number of projects including Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye are currently filming, both of which are set to release late this year. It has now been reported that a new start date has arrived for a project that will be unlike anything we have seen in the MCU to date, in Mahershala Ali’s Blade.
The movie does not have a release date as of yet, however, the production is set to begin in late 2021 according to Murphy’s Multiverse and ComicBook’s Phase Zero Podcast. Not much is currently known about the film’s story, although Kevin Feige recently revealed that Blade will have a PG-13 rating rather than R-Rating that most fans were hoping for.
Although Mahershala Ali has been confirmed as the film’s leading man for almost two years, news that Watchmen writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour has been recruited was only reported last month. With little things like this coming together, it seems that the filming start date could be on the horizon. If production is set to begin later this year, you can expect to hear lots more news over the next few months about additional cast members and the film’s director.
Blade is currently without a release date.
