Ever since Secret Invasion was announced at Disney’s Investor Day last December, we’ve seen plenty of casting news. At the time of the reveal, Kevin Feige confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn will star in the Disney+ series. More recently, it was reported that Kingsley Ben-Adir has joined the cast and that Emilia Clarke is in the final stages of negotiations to play a mysterious character.
We also know that the Secret Invasion will be based on the comic book series of the same name. In the series, the shapeshifting Skrulls hatch a plan to conquer Earth by secretly replacing prominent citizens and superheroes over the span of several years.
While we know a basic outline of the plot and have an idea of who might appear in the series, there was no information regarding who will direct the series. Thankfully, that mystery has been revealed. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Marvel Studios has tapped Let Him Go‘s Thomas Bezucha and The Looming Tower‘s Ali Selim to direct Secret Invasion.
Marvel made no comment on the report, but sources close to THR have stated that it is unclear on the number of episodes that each director will work on. The pair will work alongside Mr. Robot‘s Kyle Bradstreet, who is the head writer and executive producer on the series.
Secret Invasion doesn’t currently have a release date, but filming is reportedly set to begin in Europe later this year.
