Marvel has announced that a new documentary called Marvel’s Behind the Mask will release exclusively on Disney+ next month. The documentary will focus on the secret identities behind a number of heroes from Marvel’s 80-year history.

From the very inception of comic books, secret identities have been an integral part of both Super Heroes and Villains leading “normal” lives. But it’s the characters beneath that resonate within us across generations of fans. Since the advent of the Marvel Age of Comics in the early 1960s, Marvel’s writers and artists have used the notion of identities to examine the evolving concept of equal rights. These legendary Marvel creations and stories have not only reflected the world outside our window – they have become a reflection of our own identities and who we truly are.

Directed by Michael Jacobs and produced by Marvel New Media, the documentary will include interviews from writers and artists behind some of the company’s iconic characters. Notable characters set to feature in the film include Black Panther, Miles Morales, Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage, the X-Men, Captain Marvel and more.

This will be the second documentary released by Marvel on Disney+. In November, they released Marvel’s 616. The series consisted of eight episodes that covered a range of topics, such a the women from Marvel’s history, and the strange Japanese Spider-Man.

Marvel’s Behind the Mask will release on Disney+ on February 12th.
