We recently had reports that Jennifer Lawrence has been cast in the upcoming Marvel Studios, Fantastic Four reboot. This “news” kind of came out of nowhere and really threw a curveball. The only name so far attached to the project is director Jon Watts who is currently filming Spider-Man 3. The latest news on this project though may shed some light on the state of play with this casting.
The original report on Lawrence stated she was heading to Australia to work on a new series and was staying on to film for the Fantastic Four movie.
Justin Kroll of Deadline took to Twitter and gave us an insight into the production status.
With the project only being announced at the Disney Investor Day last December, and the fact that they are only now looking for writers, we can assume that the Jennifer Lawrence casting is either false or that the series she is filming may take a long time to film. Add to the fact that there are still several movies that have been announced prior to Investor Day like Blade. The other option is she has been cast but will be introduced in another movie or series prior to Fantastic Four.
So, whether the casting of Lawrence is true will still remain to be seen, but at least in the meantime, Marvel is cracking on with getting the Fantastic Four into the MCU.
