The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been built through multiple interconnected movies and, more recently, the addition of several series. The way every project is interlinked to the others helps keep the audience invested in the characters and their stories.
That being said, once you add time travel to the mix, things get a little more complicated to follow.
Avengers: Endgame added a few branches to the timeline of the MCU, but the upcoming series Loki looks to add even more.
Having Waldron work on both Loki and Doctor Strange 2 is a wise move. He will help keep continuity across the two projects, as one will deal with time travel and the other deal with the multiverse. Tom Hiddleston has also spoken about the future of his character.
Loki will land on Disney+ on June 9th and run for 6 episodes. Tom Hiddleston will be joined by Owen Wilson who will be playing Mobius, a member of the TVA.
