Lead Role Cast For Ms. Marvel

The search is finally over, as Marvel has cast the lead role for their Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. The title role has gone to newcomer Iman Vellani.

Vellani will be joining directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, while we also have reports of casting calls for supporting character Red Dagger. Iman Vellani is an unknown actress and aspiring filmmaker. The casting choice and Ms. Marvel is a first in many aspects. This will be Vellani’s first major role in film or television. The character of Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) is also the first Muslim superhero to star in their own show or movie.

Kamala Khan first appeared on comic book pages in 2013 making her a relatively new addition to the pages of Marvel Comics. She is a teenage girl, growing up in Jersey who’s Inhuman heritage awakens, giving her the ability to stretch and distort her body (similar to Mr Fantastic).

There is currently no confirmed release date for the show but it will air exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service. But in the meantime, the congratulations are pouring in from fellow MCU stars like Kumail Nanjiani.
