WandaVision was a resounding success for Marvel Studios’ debut entry on Disney+. The series delighted fans week in and week out thanks to its crazy time-hopping sitcom settings, thought-provoking storylines and strong acting performances.
In addition to the star performances of leading actors Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, WandaVision introduced new characters to the MCU. The most memorable of which was Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal of Agatha ‘Agnes’ Harkness. In early episodes of the series, the nosey neighbour provided light-hearted humour. Episode 7, however, revealed that Agatha Harkness was WandaVision‘s main antagonist with her own catchy theme tune.
In the series finale, Wanda placed a spell on Agatha that trapped her in Westview, forced to live as the nosey neighbour character Agnes that she had been introduced as. The door appears to be open for Harkness to return at some point in the future, but Kathryn Hahn has “no idea” if we’ll see her again in the MCU.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Kathryn Hahn spoke at length about her appearance in the series. The interview covered everything from Marvel Studios’ initial pitch right the way through to her future in the MCU. When asked if we will see more of Agatha Harkness in the future, Hahn had this to say:
As a follow-up, the interviewer stated: “If it’s something you want, I hope you get that opportunity”, to which Hahn replied:
While Hahn’s answer regarding a future appearance is vague, it seems inevitable that she will return to help or guide Wanda at some point in the future. Shortly before being forced to live out her time as Agnes, Agatha warned Wanda: “You have no idea what you’ve unleashed. You’re gonna need me.” Wanda’s reply hints that we may see her again: “If I do, I know where to find you.”
