The last few episodes of WandaVision tied up a lot of the loose ends from the series, but it also left us with a few questions. Some of those questions will likely be answered in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which will star Elizabeth Olsen alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
Plot details for the Doctor Strange sequel are currently a closely guarded secret. One popular theory is that the Sorcerer Supreme will be forced to deal with the fallout of Wanda’s use of chaos magic. After all, Agatha Harkness told Wanda in the final episode “You have no idea what you’ve unleashed.”
While it’s been confirmed that we’ll see Wanda again next year, the future of some of the show’s other characters is currently a mystery. One of those characters is the villainous S.W.O.R.D. Director Tyler Hayward, who was played by Josh Stamberg.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Stamberg spoke about his time on WandaVision. The star revealed that he was “oddly” happy with the hate his character received online as it “means it worked”. He also spoke about his early discussions with Marvel Studios about the character. One of the early questions he had for Marvel was:
Another thing Stamberg wanted to agree on before he signed up for WandaVision was that Tyler Hayward wouldn’t die in the series. The series ended with his character being arrested by the FBI. The outcome leaves the door open for Hayward to appear again at some point in the future. Stamberg went on to state he would be “surprised” if he didn’t return to the MCU.
It remains to be seen if Marvel Studios has plans for Tyler Hayward beyond WandaVision. Given his obsession with superheroes and technology, an appearance in Secret Invasion or Armor Wars would be our bet.
