Jonathan Majors, star of Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019), has landed a key role in the upcoming Ant-Man 3 movie. He will be starring alongside Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily. The role is as yet unconfirmed but it appears that the actor will be taking on the role of the movie’s villain.
Majors has had a fantastic year so far starring in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods and also in the HBO hit series Lovecraft Country. In a recent interview with Variety Majors had the following to say:
It’s been like a 1-2 punch. As soon as I got off the roller coaster that was ‘Da 5 Bloods’, ‘Lovecraft’ started creeping up,” Majors recently told Variety. “Spike Lee and Misha Green share many things in common, but chiefly, they both have the audacity and the nerve to say ‘Here it is’ and, because of their pedigree, because of the work they’ve made before, they can be put into very large arenas [to tell that truth]
If the reports from sources like Deadline are true then we will be looking at Jonathan Majors taking on the role of Kang the Conqueror.
Kang the Conqueror is a super-villain that fans are keen to see enter the MCU. He is a time-travelling entity who in the comics has battled everyone from Thor to Spider-Man to the entire Avengers Team. Although his introduction and story arc may differ from the comics, he will make a fascinating villain.
Ant-Man 3 does not currently have a confirmed release date, and with the current delays due to Covid-19, this date may still be a while off. News is still sparse on the project but what we have heard so far is very exciting. Peyton Reed will return to direct and the script will be penned by Jeff Loveness.
