Filming for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to resume in the near future in Australia. Like the rest of Marvel Studios’ projects, production for the movie was halted in March due to Covid-19.
Outside of the three cast members revealed at last year’s Comic-Con, Marvel Studios has kept tight-lipped with official casting information. Earlier this year, rumours of Michelle Yeoh’s inclusion surfaced, and now the star appears to have confirmed her appearance via an Instagram post.
MCU Cosmic sharred the post which shows Yeoh taking a Coronavirus test in Sydney, Australia. The fact that Yeoh is in Australia just as production for Shang-Chi is about to resume filming may be a coincidence. However, comments from Simu Lui and Awkwafina, two of the movie’s confirmed cast members, hint that there may be a bit more to it than that.
Michelle Yeoh is no stranger to the MCU. She portrayed the role of Aleta Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Whilst this isn’t official confirmation that Yeoh will be taking on a new role in the MCU, it’s a strong indication.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to release on May 7th, 2021.
