With the release of Avengers: Endgame, Fans were treated to a deluge of Easter eggs and call-backs. The most notable for some was the appearance of Harley Keener (Ty Simpkins) at the funeral of Stony Stark. Harley Keener is the young lad who helped Tony Stark in Iron Man 3.This may be just another call-back but fans were wondering if there may be more to it with many theories over what significance this may have.
If we look at the funeral service in more detail, there a few things to note. This was not a public service, meaning that the only attendee’s were superheroes or the direct families of superheroes. Except for Harley Keener. We also need to look at the meeting of Tony and Harley in Iron Man 3 as no other character met Harley in the film so we need to assume that Tony and Harley kept in contact over the 10 years since the first meeting.
In a recent Livestream via Instagram with ComicBooks’s Chris Killian, Fan’s were given some hope that one of those theories is correct, or at least that Ty Simpkins hopes it comes true. When asked if he was up for returning to the MCU and maybe even taking on the role of Iron Lad he had this to say:
I would love that. I don’t know what’s gonna happen, I know pretty much as much as you guys. […] but I’m 100% down. I’d love that.
Although this should be taken as nothing more than an exciting conversation, this is something that fans have been speculating about for a while and theorising how he could make another MCU entrance. We recently covered this theory in a post where we discussed the possibility of Iron Lad and the Young Avengers, which can be found here. If this conversation is anything to go by at least we know the actor is up for the role.
