A new report suggests that Marvel Studios may be looking to bring Iron Fist to the big screen. With the rights to Netflix’s lineup of Marvel characters now reverting back to Marvel Studios, rumour has it that Kevin Feige may be keen to reboot Danny Rand in a future MCU film.
The news comes from serial scooper Mikey Sutton of Geekosity. According to Sutton, Iron Fist will appear in the Shang-Chi franchise, although it won’t be in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which is currently set to release in July 2021. Should the blend of martial arts and superheroes prove to be the hit with audiences, Marvel will look to use the character in the film’s sequel.
Sutton also states that it’s unlikely that actor Finn Jones will reprise the role. According to his sources, Kevin Feige was left unimpressed by Netflix’s Iron Fist series. This was echoed by viewers, with Iron Fist widely considered to be the weakest of the Netflix Marvel shows.
If Iron Fist does make an appearance in a future MCU film, Marvel Studios visualise a new martial arts battle for the ages. Similar to the fight between Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in 1972’s Return of the Dragon.
