The Coronavirus pandemic has already caused the whole slate of phase four MCU films to be delayed. The latest delays coming not too long ago when it was announced that Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals have all been pushed back. The delays have also affected Disney+ series, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier now set to release in 2021.
The last hope for fans to receive some new MCU content in 2020 is the upcoming WandaVision. The series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany looked set to release before the end of the year, but that may also have changed.
According to Twitter user @cinemAddikt, WandaVision has now been delayed until January. The user shared some screenshots of a chat session with Disney+ customer support in Latin America. You can see the full conversation below, along with a rough translation courtesy of The Direct.
Yes, they are looking to promote the Disney classics, but of course there will be much more content, as previously mentioned, like The Simpsons, we’ll have the Marvel movies and series; WandaVision premieres in January. National Geographic documentaries, etc.
As pointed out by The Direct, it could be that this is a regional delay only, and fans in English speaking countries may still get to see WandaVision before the turn of the year. The streaming platform has a recent history of delaying releases in some regions. The Mandalorian season two, which released on Disney+ last week, has reportedly been delayed in Spain and other regions.
There hasn’t been an official announcement from Disney or Marvel Studios yet, so we’ll have to sit patiently and keep our fingers crossed that WandaVision does release this year as originally planned.
