Phase four of the MCU is well and truly underway on Disney+. Including WandaVision and the ongoing The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, six new series are set to release on the streaming platform in 2021. More projects are about to begin production ahead of a 2022 release, including She-Hulk which will introduce viewers to Jennifer Walters.
Not much is currently known about She-Hulk at this stage, except that it will be a legal comedy. Tatiana Maslany has been cast in the lead role for the series, which will also see the return of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Tom Roth’s Abomination. Ginger Gonzaga will appear as Jennifer Walters’ best friend, and there have also been rumours of a return for Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and the casting of a mysterious Skrull.
The latest casting information comes from Deadline who have reported that Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry has landed a role in She-Hulk. According to the report, Goldsberry will play a character referred to as Amelia. Murphy’s Multiverse expanded on Deadline’s report by stating that Amelia is actually a code name for a yet to be disclosed character. They went on to reveal that the character will in fact be Mallory Book.
Who is Mallory Book?
In the comic books, Mallory Book is a lawyer that worked alongside Jennifer Walters at Goodman, Liever, Kurtzberg & Holliway. She went on to achieve the record for the longest run of victories in the courtroom. A feat that won her the title of “The face that never lost a case”. Walters and Book had an on and off friendship/rivalry during their time working together. Book was also a victim of an attack by Titania, who is currently rumoured to be the main villain of the series.
In addition to her award-winning performance as Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton, Goldsberry has appeared in Waves, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and she also starred alongside MCU star Anthony Mackie in Netflix’s Altered Carbon.
She-Hulk is expected to release on Disney+ in 2022.
