Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed is expected to take a deep dive into the Quantum realm in the upcoming MCU movie. Fans are now given a behind the scenes look into the preparation for the movie after a tease on the director’s Twitter page.
The film will see Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang join Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne as the titular characters. They will be joined by other returning characters like Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne. We will also see Kathryn Newton make her MCU debut as Cassie Lang, which may introduce us to another Young Avenger, Stature.
While filming is yet to get underway, the tease on Twitter gives fans the first “behind the scenes” look at The Volume technology that is being used for production. This is the same tech Disney used on the incredibly popular Star Wars series, The Mandalorian.
The teased image shows Reed taking a picture of The Volume, infused with a virtual snowy mountain backdrop.
After serving as a director on several episodes of The Mandalorian, we can assume that Reed is no stranger to the technology. Another MCU franchise using the technology is Thor: Love and Thunder, whose director Taika Waititi also worked on episodes of The Mandalorian.
The Volume will prove useful for scenes that will be set within the Quantum Realm. The technique should allow the cast and crew to film sequences much easier, giving more time to create more thrilling moments for the threequel.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will premiere in theaters on February 17, 2023.
