The MCU’s expansion into the world of streaming on Disney+ has been a resounding success so far thanks to the release of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. At Disney’s Investor Day presentation in December, Kevin Feige announced several new projects are in development for the streaming platform.
One of those projects is Secret Invasion, which will see Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn reprise their roles as Nick Fury and Talos, respectively. The series will be based on the popular comic storyline which was released under the same name. Whilst there isn’t any concrete information about the series’ plot, we can take an educated guess that it will follow a similar arc to the comics.
In recent months, we’ve seen confirmation that Kingsley Ben-Adir has joined the cast of Secret Invasion. We’ve also seen details of three characters that will appear in the series. The latest piece of casting news comes from Variety who have revealed that Game of Thrones star Emelia Clarke is in “final negotiations” to join Secret Invasion. The report revealed that Clarke’s role is currently being kept “under wraps”, and will mark her first appearance in the MCU.
Secret Invasion is currently scheduled to begin production in mid-2021 and is currently without a release date.
