Echo Disney+ Series Reportedly in Early Development

Last December, it was reported that Alaqua Cox has been cast as Echo in the upcoming Hawkeye series. The series is still currently filming Atlanta and is set to release on Disney+ later this year.

A new report from Variety has revealed that a spinoff series centred on Alaqua Cox’s Echo may be in early development at Marvel Studios. According to the report, sources have informed Variety that Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen will write and executive produce the series. Marvel Studios will produce.

Echo, whose real name is Maya Lopez, is a deaf Native American superhero that first appeared in 1999’s Daredevil #9. She is an Olympic level athlete that possesses photographic reflexes. Similar to Taskmaster, she has the ability to copy other people’s fighting styles, which makes her a formidable opponent. Lopez was also the first version of Ronin in Marvel comics. A role that was later taken up by Clint Barton. Jeremy Renner who plays Hawkeye in the MCU briefly appeared as Ronin at the start of Avengers: Endgame.

Echo has ties to many existing and upcoming MCU characters. She has crossed paths with Daredevil and Moon Knight, was part of the New Avengers, and was also involved in the Secret Invasion storyline.
