According to a report from Small Screen, it appears that British actor Dan Stevens (37), known for various roles like the period drama Downton Abbey, A Walk Among the Tombstones and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, is deep in talks to enter the MCU.
Some of you may know Stevens from his role as David Haller (a son of Charles Xavier) in the FX series Legion. Legion was created for FX by Noah Hawley and ran for 3 seasons.
The series followed Haller who is a mutant that is diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (schizophrenia) at a young age. He is trying to control his own powers and the sinister forces trying to control them while evading a government agency.
While the show was strange and at times difficult to follow, it was well-received and won several awards. It was undoubtedly one of the most ambitious Marvel projects to date and built a huge following because of the amazing performance by Stevens.
Dan Stevens in MCU
As stated, Legion was aired on FX and because the rights to the X-Men characters were with Fox, not Marvel Studios, the series is not part of the MCU. So this means that he could be in talks to reprise this role, similar to the way Jamie Foxx will return to play Electro in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie. But this may not be the case…
Marvel Studios could be lining Stevens up for another role completely. There are several roles he could pull off in the MCU such as the Silver Surfer, Moon Knight or even Iron Fist to name a few. He could even pull off an unstable villain, and if they were to introduce the Fantastic Four he would make a very convincing Doctor Doom in my opinion.
This is currently though, an unconfirmed report so we will keep an eye on this and update you as we hear more.
In the meantime let us know what you think and who you would like to see him play if he is joining the MCU.
