Chloe Bennet’s run as Daisy Johnson/Quake in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended last year following its seventh and final season. Since then, fans have been calling for the star to return to the MCU. Bennet herself has previously said that she is open to playing the role of Quake again, stating that “it doesn’t really feel like I’m done playing her yet.”
Before season 7 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s premiere on ABC last May, multiple sources stated that a Secret Warriors project was in development at Marvel Studios. Many automatically linked Bennet to that series as Quake has been part of the original iteration of the team in the Mighty Avengers #13 comic book. Shortly after that report, Bennet responded to a fan on Twitter to debunk the rumour. She stated at the time “I wish that were true… but they aren’t…”
News of Daisy Johnson’s return to the MCU has been quiet since then. That was until recently when Giant Freakin Robot ran an exclusive story stating that Bennet is “in consideration” to appear alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn in Secret Invasion.
When pushed by a fan on Twitter if the rumour is “legit”, Bennet responded with a short “I wish”.
Whilst Bennet’s reply seemingly plays down the chance of her returning as Quake in the MCU, it’s doesn’t necessarily mean that she won’t be involved in Secret Invasion. It’s not uncommon for stars to deny their involvement in a project before an official announcement has been made. The most recent example of this came last year when Tatiana Maslany denied she had been cast as She-Hulk in October. In December, the casting was made official by Kevin Feige at Disney Investor Day.
The wording of the article linking Bennet to Secret Invasion was also very specific in stating that Chloe Bennet is only “in consideration”. It is possible that Marvel Studios could still make that call in the near future.
