Fans of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy won’t have too long to wait until they can see the characters in action again. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the Guardians were last seen flying off into space with Thor. The characters will appear on the big screen next year in Thor: Love and Thunder, before returning in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023.
During Disney’s Investor Day presentation last December, Feige revealed 2 additional Guardians of the Galaxy projects are in the works. An animated series called I Am Groot will star everyone’s favourite tree. There was also the surprising news of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special that will release on Disney+ in 2022.
A recent tweet from director James Gunn gave fans a glimpse of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special‘s script.
Since then, Star Wars‘ Luke Hamill and Gunn having shared several tweets that could hint towards the actor’s inclusion. First, Hamill replied stating that he had “a bad feeling” about the film.
Gunn then replied stating that “these things ALWAYS go well.” Hamill once again replied saying “I hope you don’t find my lack of faith… disturbing.” Which is a nod to Darth Vader’s line from 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope.
Earlier today, Gunn shared the latest reply that seemingly hints at Mark Hamill’s appearance in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special:
Whilst the conversation on Twitter could be open to interpretation, the pair will know that fans are watching and clinging to every hint. Gunn and Hamill have previously been rumoured to be discussing a role for the star in GotG3, after Gunn previously mentioned that Hamill lives nearby to the director. The pair eventually met up, with Gunn sharing an image of Mark Hamill and himself on Instagram.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will release on Disney+ in the beck end of 2022.
