Anthony Mackie Wants Black Widow Spinoff Featuring The Falcon

With only a few days left until we see the debut of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hit Disney+ the news is flooding in to build the hype for the series. One piece of news is that Anthony Mackie would love to feature in a Black Widow spinoff.

In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Mackie and fellow co-star Sebastian Stan were promoting their upcoming show. During the interview, they discussed the relationship that Sam and Bucky have with Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow. Mackie went on to express his excitement for his character after the show and how he would like to explore a lingering plot thread.

All of these shows and all of these movies are kind of like, ‘To Be Continued …’ By the end of our show, I’m interested to see what’s next. When our script is over and our show is over, we’re just as excited as you are to see what happens next. That’s the beauty of Marvel and the appreciation you have for being an actor in a Marvel movie. Every cliffhanger is a cliffhanger for everybody, except Kevin (Feige). But the question I always ask is: Do I fall in love with the Black Widow? When does that storyline come in? Because I’ve requested that several times.

Stan interjected at this point saying Sam fell in love with “the memory of her” and went on to joke about time machines and sorcerers (not wizards).

Mackie has also explained how his character’s superhero journey started when Black Widow knocked on his door during Captain America: Winter Soldier, going on to express his interest in a spin-off.

He was a fan just like everyone else. Sam Wilson was a regular guy who just won the lottery because Black Widow knocked on his door and needed a place to hide. He fell in love, and was hoping to have a spinoff with Black Widow.

I suppose we will have to wait and see if Marvel do anything with a Black Widow and The Falcon Spinoff but I’m sure fans will be more than eager to see it happen.

If we hear any more on the subject we will as always keep you informed. In the meantime don’t miss the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which will air on Friday 19th March.
